'Psych' montage invites us to 'suck it' -- VIDEO

Categories: Psych, Television

James Roday and Dule Hill are already well into season 6 on Psych, which so far has featured many classic shenanigans between psychic detective Shawn Spencer and his partner Chest Rockwell. Oh wait, I meant Sh’Dynasty, spelled with a coma-to-the-top (that’s God’s comma). Actually it’s both, and neither.

Over the course of six years on the beloved USA buddy-cop show, the crime fighting duo have burned through a host of fake names and catch phrases. And, if this exclusive clip is any indication, that’s not about to change any time soon.  READ FULL STORY »

CBS scores interview with Penn State Assistant Football Coach Mike McQueary

A day after NBC touted having the first interview with the embattled ex-Penn State Coach Jerry Sandusky, CBS is now crowing that it snagged the first interview with Penn State assistant football coach Mike McQueary, who is a key witness in the sex abuse scandal.

The interview by correspondent Armen Keteyian will air during tonight’s installment of CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley. According to an early transcript, McQueary tells the reporter that his emotions are “all over the place, just kind of shaken” and goes on to compare them to a “snow globe.” If there are juicier quotes, CBS isn’t releasing them in hopes that viewers will tune into tonight’s news telecast that typically trails NBC and ABC.

McQueary is on administrative leave from Penn State after a grand jury investigation revealed that he witnessed Sandusky raping a boy in March of 2002 and didn’t do anything to stop it. Recently, McQueary reportedly emailed former teammates and said, “I did the right thing … you guys know me.”

NBC’s interview with Sandusky, which was conducted via the phone by Bob Costas, boosted ratings on Rock Center with Brian Williams by 30% on Monday. The newsmagazine earned a 1.3 rating/3 share and 4.4 million viewers.

'Prime Suspect' to wrap (for good?) after 13 episodes

So long, Maria Bello: You were good while you lasted. Production on NBC’s Prime Suspect will shut down after the 13th episode, which is currently filming in New York. The network just announced its new midseason lineup and the cop drama is not on it.

Another remake, The Firm, will bow in its place.

The series, while appreciated by critics, was not embraced by viewers: The remake only averaged a 1.7 rating in adults 18-49 and 6.1 million viewers. Since NBC already canceled Playboy and Free Agents, NBC clearly wanted to keep its options open on Prime Suspect before deciding to yank another low-rated new show off its schedule. It tried running repeats of the show on other nights, but Bello and her cohorts just couldn’t scare up more viewers.

For now, NBC is not saying Prime Suspect is canceled, though cast members were reportedly told the show is history.

'Unforgettable': Dylan Walsh talks Marilu Henner, Al's complicated relationship with Carrie -- VIDEO

Categories: Television
Unforgettable

Tonight’s Unforgettable features a guest star that’s very close to the show’s heart — because she, like main character Carrie (Poppy Montgomery), also has Superior Autobiographical Memory.

Marilu Henner, who also serves as a consulting producer on the show, will play Carrie’s aunt, who is experiencing early-onset Alzheimer’s. And even though co-star Dylan Walsh has become more than familiar with Henner’s abilities as a result of being on the show, seeing it in action was still a fascinating treat. “I met [Henner] almost 20 years ago at a party and she remembered meeting me, remembered everything about the party,” he told EW recently. “There’s no reason why she would remember me. Twenty years ago, I was nothing to remember…but she remembers everything about it in a creepy way.”  READ FULL STORY »

'Teen Mom 2' season 2 trailer: Well, I guess this is growing up -- WATCH

Categories: Reality TV, Teen Mom 2

It almost seems a little redundant to ponder what the casts of Teen Mom have been up to, as their on and off-screen woes have become headline-grabbing tabloid fodder. Even those who don’t watch the hard-hitting MTV reality series would know about the legal troubles that seem to follow Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans, or that fellow cast member, Leah Messer, a mother of twins, filed for divorce from her husband of six months, Corey Simms.

While both of those widely publicized moments are, unsurprisingly, stuffed in the trailer for the second season of Teen Mom 2, there’s still plenty of drama to spare. In addition to her divorce, Leah is faced with infidelity and her daughter’s medical problems; Jenelle, still getting in heated arguments with her mother over her troublesome boyfriend, Kieffer, promises her son, Jace, she’s getting help; Kailyn is torn between her son’s father and her new boyfriend; and Chelsea, inexplicably lets Adam back into her and their daughter Aubree’s life. (Note: Chelsea’s relentlessly nice father doesn’t appear anywhere in the clip, perhaps indicating that he finally put his foot down with the whole Adam situation. One can only hope.) Aren’t you just always happy to see Justin Long? He just seems so nice and funny and the kind of guy you wouldn’t mind sitting next to on a long, turbulent plane ride. Anyway, tonight he begins his New Girl arc as Paul Gunslinger, a teacher who works at the same school where Zooey Deschanel’s Jess teaches. No shocker, he’s both nice and funny.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Did you have to familiarize yourself with the word ‘adorkable’ before you started this gig?
JUSTIN LONG: I was unfamiliar with that word before the litany of billboards that I came across. My friend Addison claims her mother created the word, actually. READ FULL STORY »

Jerry Sandusky interview boosts 'Rock Center,' but CBS has last laugh

Categories: Television, TV Ratings

A 11th hour announcement that Bob Costas snagged a phoner with embattled ex-Penn State coach Jerry Sundusky gave Rock Center with Brian Williams a much-needed boost in the ratings Monday. The news magazine averaged a 1.3 rating/3 share and 4.4 million viewers, up 30% from last week, according to early results.

Still, that’s the equivalent of plugging a pin hole in the Titanic: NBC still floundered in fourth place on Monday (1.4/4, 4.6 million), with The Sing-Off not giving the Peacock much reason to croon a happy tune these days. It pulled a 1.5/4, flat with last week, and 4.7 million viewers. For more about NBC’s woes, check out Ken Tucker’s take here. READ FULL STORY »

“Just how valuable is Bill Crystals to the Oscars?

ABC is about to find out, as it has opted to charge up to $1.7 million per 30 second spot for an ad in the annual telecast, according to Ad Age. Though it may seem like a rich price to peddle products during the mammoth show, that’s actually on par with what ABC charged during last year’s (dreadful) telecast, when Anne Hathaway and James Franco hosted the festivities. The show ended up averaging 37.9 million viewers, down from the previous year when The Hurt Locker dominated in front of 41.7 million people. READ FULL STORY »

'Dancing with the Stars': Is Maks feuding with Carrie Ann now?

dwts-maks-hope

Seems like that tension between the judges and Maksim Chmerkovskiy hasn’t entirely fizzled on Dancing with the Stars. During Monday’s performance episode of the ABC show, Carrie Ann Inaba was explaining how the couple’s Argentine tango lacked fluidity when she singled out a suspicious look on Chmerkovskiy’s face. ”You can smile like that Maks, it’s okay,” she quipped sarcastically.

A confused Chmerkovksiy replied by saying, “it’s nothing to do with me.”

Afterwards, Hope Solo tried to offer an explanation to Brooke Burke in the celebratorium. “Maks is smiling because we should be smiling! So Carrie Ann, thank you. Maks is smiling. This is my partner. Finally, we’re happy!”

Huh? What the heck was that all about, Maks? READ FULL STORY »

NBC obtains first interview with former Penn State Coach Jerry Sandusky

Categories: Television

This could either boost those low ratings for NBC’s Rock Center with Brian Williams or put the fourth-ranked network into the dog house: Bob Costas obtained the first interview with former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky, who admits on camera that he showered — but did not have sexual contact – with young boys. The interview will air during tonight’s telecast.

Sandusky, who was indicted on 40 counts by multiple accusers, told Costas, “I am innocent of those charges.” READ FULL STORY »
