'Southland' co-star joins Kiefer Sutherland's 'Touch' -- EXCLUSIVE

Categories: Scoop, Television
ROXANA-BRUSSO

A hardcase detective from Southland is coming to Fox’s big new Kiefer Sutherland drama.

Roxana Brusso has joined the Touch cast in a recurring role as Sheri, a tough, former biker with a heart of gold. She’s the director and physical therapist at a facility that cares for Jake — the mysteriously gifted son of Sutherland’s single father character. In addition to playing Detective Alicia Fernandez on Southland, Brusso had a role on ABC’s Dirty Sexy Money.

Touch is from Heroes creator Tim Kring and it was considered one of the strongest drama scripts around during pilot season. The show will premiere this spring on Fox. (The network hasn’t released most of its midseason dates yet — wonder which slot on the schedule Touch will get?) For those who missed it the first time around, here’s the Touch trailer.

Sarah Silverman's NBC project gets pilot order

Categories: Television

This may sound like old news to some of you: Didn’t Sarah Silverman get an NBC pilot back in August? That was a pilot “commitment,” but now the project is firmly moving forward with a pilot order.

The untitled sitcom has Silverman starring as a version of herself, a woman who’s newly single after a long relationship. This is so very on-brand for NBC’s Thursday block that it’s tough to see the project being derailed from getting a full-fledged series order (and it’s a potential companion for another female comedian-fronted NBC title, Whitney, in the unlikely event it survives long enough for Silverman’s show to hit the air). Would you watch a sitcom starring Silverman?

Since news broke last week that Netflix officially picked up Arrested Development for a 2013 run, fans have been taking a victory lap around the Internet that the five-year will-they-or-won’t-they revival roller coaster appears to be finished once and for all. EW landed an exclusive chat with Buster Bluth himself, a.k.a. Tony Hale. Of the long wait for Arrested‘s return, Hale laughed, “In this situation, Buster would have been in the hospital medicated.” What else did Hale have to say about everyone’s favorite seal-phobic, over-educated MotherBoy? Will Lucille 2 (Liza Minnelli) return? And what was Hale’s favorite Buster moment so far? Keep reading… READ FULL STORY »

Ewan McGregor to star in HBO's 'The Corrections'

Former Jedi Knight Ewan McGregor has signed on to HBO’s The Corrections.

The premium network’s adaptation of the acclaimed Jonathan Franzen novel about a dysfunctional Midwestern family has already cast Chris Cooper and Dianne Wiest as the family’s parents, with McGregor playing their second child Chip.

This mark’s McGregor’s first regular role in a TV show (he appeared in a stand-out episode of ER back in the day). The Corrections is still only at the pilot stage, but it’s tough to see a cast this strong on a property this well known just sitting on the sidelines.

Adam Lambert talks 'Joe Zee' guest stint, evolved fashion tastes, and new album 'Trespassing' -- EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS

Categories: Reality TV, Television

Adam Lambert is ready to show you a different side of himself. Right after the singer exploded on the scene as the runner-up on American Idol‘s season 8, it seemed you couldn’t open a magazine or turn on the radio without hearing about Lambert. (Not, of course, that we’re complaining.) He was everywhere: the Idol tour, rocking the house with his performances, and stirring up controversy on the American Music Awards and in photo spreads.

But recently, our favorite glam rocker has seemed quiet. But Glamberts should fear not: that’s all about to change. READ FULL STORY »

Discovery's 'Moonshiners' -- EXCLUSIVE PROMO

Just because you can buy some moonshine legally doesn’t mean the renegades in the woods who can pocket more than $100,000 tax-free brewing an old family recipe plan to stop anytime soon. The new Discovery show Moonshiners, premiering Dec. 6, introduces us to some of the folks in Appalachia keeping the tradition alive (including legend Marvin “Popcorn” Sutton, shown clogging in the exclusive promo below), as well as the local lawmen trying to keep them honest (“I like to tell people at nighttime I am the boogeyman, because we gonna get ya”). It looks like a quintessentially American game of cat-and-mouse, with plenty of paranoia, firepower, and, we suspect, shine-fueled soundbites. READ FULL STORY »

Either folks are starting to head out of town for Thanksgiving or nobody really cares to see Rob Kardashian possibly win the mirror ball: Primetime shows were mostly down across the board on Monday, with Dancing with the Stars posting its lowest performance finale ever.

The episode featuring a dance-off between Kardashian, Ricki Lake and J.R. Martinez posted a 3.6 rating/9 share in adults  18-49, down 27% from last fall’s part 1 finale (4.9/13 on Nov. 22). It averaged 20 million viewers. The action on the dance floor, in turn, delivered a bum rush to the new game show You Deserve It, which earned a 2.1/5 – down 13% from last fall’s Skating With The Stars debut. It averaged 10 mil. Castle, however, was up 13% to a 2.7/7 and lured 11.9 million.

CBS, as usual, won the night in the demo (4.0/10), though it, too, saw across-the-board declines. How I Met Your Mother was down 7% to a 4.3/12 and 10 million viewers, followed by 2 Broke Girls (4.4/11, down 8%, 11.1 million) Two & A Half Men (5.2/13, down 4%, 15.7 million), Mike & Molly (4.2/10, down 5%, 13 million) and Hawaii Five-0 (2.8/7, down 15%, 10.3 million).

ABC finished second in the demo for the night with a 2.8/7, followed by Fox (2.3/7), which saw Terra Nova drop 9% to a 2.1/6 and 6.4 million. House was flat with a 2.5/6 and 7.3 million. NBC’s The Sing-Off, however, saw some gains: The show posted a 1.4/3, up 8%, and 4.2 million. Rock Center with Brian Williams, however, took a step closer to cancellation by earning a .9/2, down 18% from last week, and 3.6 million.

Christopher Eccleston and Julie Walters garnered the main acting awards as British TV productions won five International Emmys, including two for the BBC crime anthology Accused.

Accused, written and created by Jimmy McGovern, received the Emmy for best drama series at the 39th Annual International Emmy Awards ceremony at the Hilton New York Hotel. The anthology tells the stories of people accused of crimes as they sit in holding cells beneath the courtroom awaiting the verdict in their trials.

The ceremony kicked off with a surprise appearance by Lady Gaga, wearing a tattooed-thigh-revealing, floor-length black gown and oversize sunglasses. She presented the honorary International Emmy Founders Award to Britain’s Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer of American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. READ FULL STORY »

J.R. Martinez on 'Dancing with the Stars': 'The lift was a scary thing'

J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff knew they had to go for broke in their freestyle dance Monday, so they planned a salsa-inspired freestyle with lots of flashy tricks — namely, one that required the soap star to jump over his petite partner and straddle her neck. Ouch!

And yet, even after Smirnoff was seen looking stressed and spent in those rehearsal clips, the pair performed the manuever perfectly on Dancing with the Stars — enough to earn them a 30. READ FULL STORY »

Rob Kardashian finally got a chance to experience what perfection is supposed to feel like on Dancing with the Stars: On Monday, he and partner Cheryl Burke earned their first 30 this season with a freestyle dance. Even sister Kim was on hand to witness her brother’s personal triumph.

“I can’t believe it still. I cannot!” he told reporters after the show. “I did not expect to get a perfect score tonight at all, especially with the freestyle, which is the most important dance. So, super happy, shocked, and just excited, really on a good cloud right now.” READ FULL STORY »

Ricki Lake on 'Dancing with the Stars' finale: I don't want to let Derek down!

If Derek Hough’s fans rally, the young pro could earn a record-breaking fourth mirror ball from Dancing with the Stars. After all, he’s never lost the championship when he made it to the top 3 — a stat that isn’t lost on his current partner Ricki Lake.

“Oh God I don’t want to be the one that lets him down,” Lake told reporters after Monday’s show. “But truthfully, I have done everything I came here to do. I’ve gotten my body into better shape than probably ever in my life. I feel like I’ve learned these beautiful dances to the best of my ability. I did a mean freestyle tonight, so I have nothing to be sorry about or unhappy about. Those guys, if one of them wins, then they were the ones that deserve it. I am so happy for all of us.” READ FULL STORY »

NBC is giving a full-season pickup to Friday night supernatural drama Grimm.

The show just became the only new NBC hour-long series to get a “back nine” episode order this fall. “We are very pleased to be making a full-season commitment for Grimm,” said NBC president Robert Greenblatt. “This series is turning the traditional procedural drama on its head and is attracting a loyal following for us on Friday nights. We love where it’s going creatively and we’re excited to deliver more episodes to our audience.”  READ FULL STORY »
