Spotted: The cast and crew of Gossip Girl partying it up at Cipriani on Wall Street in New York in honor of the show’s 100th episode, which airs Jan. 30. But fans also have reason to celebrate: While the show has yet to be officially picked up for another season, Gossip Girl executive producers told to EW just prior to the bash that they believe a sixth season is imminent — and are planning accordingly.
“We’ve had no one saying to us, ‘Wrap it up. This is the last season.’ So we’re not [treating the season finale] as such,” said EP Joshua Safran, hoping to quell some fans’ fears that their favorite teen drama would soon fall victim to dwindling ratings.
Peter Roth, president of Warner Bros. Television, also offered up his vote of confidence. “I can’t really say at this point, but I would hope and expect that there would be at least another year — if not years– to come.” Which is good news, considering executive producer Stephanie Savage said the finale would “absolutely” leave fans wanting to see the next season. (Translation: I’d place my bet on a cliffhanger.) “We see [the finale] as a continuing, developing story,” Safran said, adding that the writers have about 6 more episodes to pen. “At the same time, like every season, we plan to show the characters’ evolution and where we’re going to go with all the twists and turns that are about to happen. So there are no plans to wrap it up.”
More immediately, most of the night’s chatter related to the show’s big 100th episode that will center around Blair’s royal wedding to Prince Louis. READ FULL STORY »

A day filled with tears, laughter, and hugs erupted into applause when the last scene of One Life to Live finished taping in its ABC studio Friday. Today saw scenes moving along at the famously whiplash-like speed common for daytime soaps, but with increasing fanfare and emotion. Then the studio quietly began to fill up in the late afternoon as Erika Slezak (Viki Lord) and Jerry vern Dorn (Clint Buchanan, right) started to shoot that last scene (which is not the last one that will be seen on the show’s finale in January) in Viki’s Llanfair living room.
Ever the pro, Slezak was determined not to break down and cry as the time approached, but even as she blinked back the tears, she had hugs for everyone who wanted one, such as Melissa Archer, who played her daughter Natalie and who went straight in for this embrace as soon as the scene was wrapped. “Why bother say goodbye?” said Slezak, who sees this as just closing a chapter. “We will see each other again, someplace, somehow, somewhere.”

Jasmine who?
A potential love connection is about to walk into the Luncheonette on NBC’s Parenthood.
EW has learned that Courtney Ford, best known for playing Portia Bellefleur on True Blood, will appear in multiple episodes as Lily, a 30-something cellist who rents time in Crosby and Adam’s recording studio.
Here’s the official description of her character: “She’s bright, observant, wry-humored, and warmly appealing, with a down-to-earth approachability, as well as a real passion for music. Despite an inauspicious start, she and Crosby really begin to connect.”
Ford has booked a multi-episode arc that will air after the drama returns from holiday break in January. She’s also appeared on The Vampire Diaries and Dexter.

Done deal: Netflix is bringing back cult classic Arrested Development.
The Bluth family’s new comedy adventures will be available exclusively through the video service starting in the first half of 2013. Why, that’s like getting unlimited juice.
“After a long hiatus, I’m dying to finally get back to the narrator’s microphone,” said executive producer and series narrator Ron Howard. “Of all the projects we’ve been involved with over the years, we probably get more questions about Mitch Hurtwitz’s brilliant Arrested Development than any other — everyone, ourselves included, seems to feel like the Bluths left the party a bit too soon. Bringing a series back from cancellation almost never happens, but then, Arrested always was about as unconventional as they get, so it seems totally appropriate that this show that broke the mold is smashing it to pieces once again.” READ FULL STORY »

Sean Pierce (Dillon Casey) has a lot on his plate these days. Even as a relative newcomer to the action-packed world of Nikita, the former Navy SEAL has found himself with a mountain of troubles to overcome, and tonight he once again comes face-to-face with Problem No. 1, Nikita (Maggie Q), after capturing Birkoff and putting him in the (incredibly scary and torture-happy) hands of Amanda.
“Birkoff’s a trading chip,” says Casey. “But Nikita has one of her own — the black box. So they’re going to have to face each other one-on-one.” READ FULL STORY »

From the promo for this Sunday’s episode of CBS’ The Good Wife (watch it again below), we know that Diane (Christine Baranski) is done with subtle sexual harassment seminars. She confronts Will (Josh Charles) and tells him Peter (Chris Noth) is coming after him and it’s time to stop sleeping with Alicia (Julianna Margulies). Alicia raised the question of whether they should press pause last week, and Will let her make the call — they probably wouldn’t even if they said they would — and simply agreed. What’s he really feeling as their relationship continues to complicate? ”I think he’s in survival mode. He’s not quite sure what’s coming at him. Is it something that he’s gonna be able to fight?” Charles tells EW. “Obviously, he has really deep feelings for Alicia, but at the same time, Will has worked really hard for a really long time to get where he’s at, and he’s gonna do everything he can to protect that. It’s clear that Diane knows what’s happening. That’s a big deal for Will to be confronted by his partner. They built the firm together. They’ve been through hell and back and have got it to a pretty decent place where they want it. So while it’s hard for Will to swallow, I think he does understand where Diane’s coming from because he would probably feel the same way if it was reversed. But again, when it comes to matters of the human heart, I don’t think all the legal brilliance necessarily comes into play. He’s torn.” READ FULL STORY »

ABC just announced its midseason lineup, which includes the start of new thriller The River, the return of Shark Tank and … a few missing shows.
There’s no word yet on when Shonda Rhimes’ next drama Scandal starring Kerry Washington will debut, or for that matter, when Cougar Town will return (anybody who’s a fan of Cougar Town and Community is having a bad week). Another key omission: New comedy Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23 — which is most assuredly a priority for the network, so there’s likely another round of dates coming before too long.
An ABC rep assures all these will air eventually this season, but they’re obviously absent from the network’s first-blush midseason lineup.
Notice below that ABC’s new cross-dressing comedy (I know… it’s 2011, and yet…) Work It is taking over the Man Up slot right after the start of the year. ABC says no decision has been made on whether Man Up will end its run after 13 episodes, but this isn’t a positive sign for the freshman comedy. (Man Up then Work It … it’s like the beer cans and pizza boxes time slot).
Also it seems new soap GCB is taking over the Pan Am time period on Sundays in March … again, it doesn’t mean Pan Am is cancelled, but also isn’t a big neon sign of confidence either since the network still hasn’t decided if the show is getting a full season (last we heard the network was reading over the five new scripts it ordered and still bullish on the show).
Here are the dates: READ FULL STORY »
