So long, Nate Berkus: Sony and Harpo Studios have decided to pull the plug on his syndicated decorating show at the end of this season. The spinoff from The Oprah Winfrey Show bowed in 2010 but Berkus, an interior designer, never garnered a decent following.
Through mid-November, the second season of Berkus’ show has been averaging 1.37 million viewers — below The Wendy Williams Show (1.4 million) and above The Jeremy Kyle Show (695,000). The most watched show in syndication is Dr. Phil at 4.0 million.
“After careful consideration, we have decided that The Nate Berkus Show will not return for a third season in the fall,” Sony and Harpo said in a joint statement to Broadcasting & Cable. “We are grateful for the hard work and heart that Nate, [executive producer] Corin Nelson and their entire team have poured into the show, and we’re very proud of what they’ve delivered.”
Added Berkus, “I’m incredibly proud of my hard-working and talented staff, and proud of the show we were able to produce every day.”
A whole new crop of talk shows are coming down the pipeline this fall hosted by the likes of Jeff Probst, Steve Harvey, Katie Couric and Ricki Lake.
