'American Horror Story' season finale: Will Ben heed Constance's warning? -- VIDEO

The season finale of American Horror Story is upon us and if these clips are any indication, we’re in for a pretty cool hour. Hello, understatement.

In the preview clips from tomorrow’s episode, we see Constance dolling out one final warning to Ben, who comes to retrieve his newborn from his neighbor. And in the second clip, ghost Vivian and Violet encourage Ben (in a pretty sappy scene) to take the baby and leave the house. READ FULL STORY »

'X Factor' denies tabloid reports of Steve Jones exit

Is Steve Jones leaving The X Factor? Not so fast, rumor mill.

A report from UK’s Daily Mail claimed host Steve Jones might not be part of season 2, and yesterday’s X Factor press conference left some speculating whether Nicole Scherzinger would return as a judge after she playfully dodged the question of her return. But an X Factor spokesperson tells EW both reports were purely speculative, saying, “Absolutely no discussions have been had and no discussions will be made about any contacts until the New Year.”

Additionally, Jones’s personal rep called the Daily Mail‘s report a “fabrication,” according to People.

Jones joined The X Factor originally to act as co-host with Scherzinger but was upgraded to a solo act after Scherzinger took her seat at the judges table following Cheryl Cole’s exit from the panel shortly after auditions began in May. Though his flavor of hosting has been cause for mixed reviews among fans of the show, Jones came out on top of an EW PopWatch poll last month, with 58 percent of the polled saying they could appreciate the Brit’s sometimes awkward demeanor.

So long Hung, Bored to Death, and How To Make It in America!

HBO has canceled the sleeper comedies to make way for more fresh programming coming down the pipeline. Hung and Bored each ran for three seasons, and America ran for two.

In the meantime, the pay cabler ordered a second season of Enlightened, the Laura Dern starrer that just earned Golden Globe nods for best TV series (comedy/musical) and for best actress.

In 2012, HBO will roll out Luck, a new drama from Michael Mann and David Milch that stars Dustin Hoffman; as well as Aaron Sorkin’s series about life behind the scenes of a cable-news show. The network will also premiere Veep, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Girls, Life’s Too Short, and Angry Boys.

New seasons of Game of Thrones, True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, and Treme also are coming. No word yet, though, on a new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm (but our fingers are crossed).

'Glee': 'Real Housewives' NeNe Leakes to guest as Sue's rival

Sue Sylvester will meet her match in an upcoming episode of Glee — and if the casting is any indication, it’s going to be a fierce battle for domination.

NeNe Leakes, from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, is set to play Roz Washington, the school’s synchronized-swim team coach and Sue’s latest rival, EW has confirmed. As Gleeks saw in the preview for January episodes, the just-returned Sam (Chord Overstreet) will join the synchronized-swim team in the second half of the season.

Leakes has already filmed her first episode and there is no word on what episode she is set to appear in next, according to Fox. Although, Leakes tweeted earlier that she would return to the Glee set after the holidays.

Cast members Chris Colfer and Lea Michele also talked excitedly about Leakes’s role during their appearance Bravo’s Watch What Happens: Live! “We literally raided her trailer,” Michele told host Andy Cohen.

'Terra Nova' roars opposite repeats and reality

Categories: Terra Nova, TV Ratings

Fox and CBS finished Monday in a dead heat, according to early nationals, as viewership continues to decline heading into the holidays. Both networks posted a 2.2 rating/6 share in adults 18-49 — though a victor will likely shake out this afternoon when finals come in (and we’re thinking it’ll be the usual winner CBS).

CBS won the night in viewers (7.4 million) followed by Fox (7.1 million).

Terra Nova wrapped its freshman season with a 2.2/6, up 5 percent among 18-49 and up 4 percent in total viewers (7.2 vs. 6.9 million) from last week. The dino show hasn’t been picked up for a second season but word is Fox is thisclose to ordering another 10 or so episodes that’ll bow mid year during the 2012-13 season.

CBS ran repeats of its comedies with Two and a Half Men (2.5/6) performing the best. NBC came in third with a 1.7/4,  having aired the premiere of Who’s Still Standing (1.5/4), another installment of Fear Factor (2.4/6, down 31 percent from last week’s debut of 3.5/8), and a fresh episode of Rock Center With Brian Williams (1.2/3).

ABC came in fourth with two Christmas specials involving pandas and chipmunks, plus an original episode of You Deserve It! (1.1/3) and a repeat of Castle.

The night’s most-watched show was Men (8.4 million) while the least watched one was a repeat of the CW’s Hart of Dixie at 8 (1.3 million).

'Terra Nova': 6 ways to save the show

Terra Nova might still get saved from extinction. No decision has been made on picking up the ambitious dino drama, but Fox met with the show’s studio chiefs last week to talk about potentially giving the series a second round. Below, we have our six ideas for how the show can best earn a pickup.

Terra Nova has been a self starter in the ratings on Mondays and its family-friendly nature makes it an easy pitch to advertisers. Yet the show’s overall adult demo ratings have disappointed, and sources say the network has been creatively unsatisfied with the show, as well. But in an odd way, some of Terra Nova‘s problems have worked in its favor — everybody involved with the project agrees there’s room for improvement and, therefore, possible ratings growth.

The network’s verdict on whether to renew the show is expected by mid January since Terra Nova‘s extensive use of special effects require the production to get back in the writers room soon if they’re going to stay on schedule to map out stories in time for fall. If renewed, expect Fox’s order will be along the lines of the first season’s 13 episodes, not a full 22 like most other shows. READ FULL STORY »

Piers Morgan faces UK media inquiry

Categories: Lawsuits

CNN star interviewer Piers Morgan will talk about his former job as editor of one of Britain’s troubled tabloids at a judge-led inquiry into the practices of Britain’s scandal-tarred press.

Morgan will give evidence via videolink Tuesday to the Leveson inquiry in London. The inquiry was set up following the disclosure that the now-defunct News of the World tabloid had for years illegally eavesdropped on the voice mail messages of celebrities, athletes, and crime victims.

Morgan shot to national prominence when he was picked by Rupert Murdoch to run the News of the World at age 28. Under his tenure, the tabloid exposed actor Hugh Grant’s liaison with Hollywood prostitute Divine Brown. Grant has already given evidence about press abuse to the inquiry.

Since January 2011, he has hosted Piers Morgan Tonight on CNN in the time slot previously occupied by Larry King Live.

'The X Factor' judges and finalists on the Top 3's favorite performances, and why you shouldn't count out the groups

X-FACTOR-THREE

You have to give the folks at The X Factor credit for consistancy: Even their finale week press conference, held today on the show’s main stage at CBS Television City, opened with a full lighting package, an introduction from host Steve Jones, and mentor/judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, and L.A. Reid emerging from the mega-screen doors with finalists Melanie Amaro, Chris Rene, and Josh Krajcik. Before the press could ask any questions, we were even treated to a video package retracing the finalists’ “journeys” on the show.

After things finally did kick into gear, as is often the case with these kinds of “pressers” (to use the industry lingo), not a huge amount of news emerged from this event. Justin Bieber, Pitbull, and Ne-Yo will all perform on Thursday night’s finale, but there’s no word yet on which “superstar artist” (Simon’s words) will duet with the finalists on the Wednesday night show. Speaking of Wednesday night, Steve Jones had Melanie, Chris, and Josh pick from three cards to determine the order of the performances that night. Melanie drew the No. 1 card, which meant she got first dibs on when she wanted to sing, and she chose the final position. Chris had second choice, and he decided to sing second, which meant Josh will open the show.

There were a few other notable moments in the half-hour press event, though. Here are my top four impressions:  READ FULL STORY »

'Homeland' finale: Best-ever ratings for new Showtime series

Homeland ended with a bang on Sunday: The finale attracted 1.71 million viewers at 10 and another 2.03 million for the night — making it the highest-rated finale for a freshman series in Showtime history.

That’s a 58 percent gain from the series premiere (1.08 million); it’s also the most-watched episode in the drama’s run. In fact, Homeland is Showtime’s highest-rated freshman show to date: The net says the drama averaged 4.23 million total viewers across multiple platforms and is now the second most popular show on Showtime behind Dexter.

Speaking of which, the season 6 finale of the serial killer drama averaged 2.23 million viewers at 9 and 2.71 million for the night. The episode represented the most-watched telecast of an original show on Showtime for all of 2011.

'Survivor': Coach says he would have won 9-0 had jurors been separated prior to final Tribal Council; calls Ozzy a 'whiny little bitch'

The third time was not the charm for Benjamin “Coach” Wade on Survivor: South Pacific. An outcast at the start of the game, he socially and strategically worked his way into an alliance of five that took him all the way to the end. But once he got there, the jurors resented all the “honor and integrity” talk from a man who ended up deceiving them. Coach is clearly shaken by his loss, as I discovered when he called in to chat about what went wrong at the end.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: I thought you had it, man.
COACH: So did I. I really did.

You are a man who goes by many names: Benjamin, Coach, the Dragonslayer, the Zenslayer, the Maestro, Zeus. How much did you want to add the title of Sole Survivor to that list?
I do not care about the title of Sole Survivor, but I did want to win because no competitor enters the final challenge expecting or hoping to lose. So it was a tough pill to swallow, but it is what it is. READ FULL STORY »
