SIDE DISHES

VAMPIRE DIARIES!!! — Lorraine
To be fair, you sent this BEFORE the finale aired, Lorraine. But I assume to could use a little scoop following that EPIC season finale? Yes/No? I’ll assume you said yes. Thankfully, Mandi Bierly spoke with Julie Plec literally minutes after the show’s season finale last night, and got a little scoop on what’s next for Team Human. “Jeremy now truly is the ‘man of the house.’ He’s also the human of the house,” she says with a laugh. “Matt just had his life spared. Everything that’s about to happen to Elena is because she wanted him to live. So that’s a big burden on a young man. He’s gonna have to figure out a way to earn that and to feel good about the way he lives his life, so that he feels like he lived up to her sacrifice.” Dear Hallmark, It’s finally time to roll out that “Thanks for becoming a vampire for me” line you’ve been sitting on!

What the hell just happened on Grey’s?! — Sue
Who here didn’t have the same reaction to last night’s penultimate episode? Anyone? Bueller? Didn’t think so. But luckily, I was a little prepared for a big shocker after talking to Shonda Rhimes, who warned that the finale contains the biggest of them all. (Yes, we know. There’s a death.) “I don’t know how to explain it —  it’s a little out there,” she says of the events in the finale. “And I was worried about it — whether it would work — or if I’d lost my mind or was crazy.” Um, crazy GENIUS.

Hi Sandra. Is it too early to ask for a little info on the next season of Psych? Specifically, Henry’s fate?! — Jen
It’s never too early for scoopage! But telling you anything about Henry crosses the line into total ruinage, no? I hope you’ll accept this consolation scoop: Gus might be the one getting a girl this season (LOVE Parminder Nagra; she’ll play new his new boo, Rachel), but Juliet is also going to get back into the dating world! Not to worry Shawn/Juliet fans, it’s for a case. But that doesn’t mean Shawn’s happy about it. Also juicy? I hear Rachel has a secret — it’s about 8 years old.

Last chance to give me something on Smash before the end of the season!! — Sabine
The cliffhanger is totally poetic and involves Ivy.

Hi Sandra! I’m a big fan of both ‘Criminal Minds’ and ‘NCIS’, and my favorite characters are Reid and McGee respectively (I guess I just have a thing for the tall, cute, and geeky type). We NEVER hear anything about these awesome characters! Can you make my day?  Pleeeeeease?? — Jackie in Boston
I judge no one’s taste in men. Once upon a time, I had a mad crush on a Ninja Turtle. I was six, but you get my point. Anyway, I will continue to side-step your question because Reid didn’t really come up when I chatted with his co-star Joe Mantegna earlier this week. But I can tell you that next season will have more of the great backstory exploration CM fans love. And if Mantegna had his say, we’d get one episode that deep dives into Rossi’s military past. “I think there’s a good chance we do one with my military background because there’s a story to be told there. I’m the one character old enough where I could have conceivably come in at the end of Vietnam. Hopefully we’ll deal with that,” he says.

The end of Supernatural last week left me wondering: Is that the last of Castiel we’ll see this season or forever?! I hope he gets a better ending than that! — Judith
Not to worry. Misha Collins is confident we’ll see more of our trenchcoat-wearing angel in the now-official season 8. “There is definitely room for Castiel to come back on Supernatural,” he says. “I think it would certainly be unsatisfying for him not to come back because the character’s story has not been wrapped up.”

I know David McCallum just extended his contract with NCIS. Can we assume he’s safe in the season finale? — Carolyn
I’d say it’s a safe bet, but as EP Gary Glasberg told me, it doesn’t mean Ducky won’t face a whole other set of challenges in the season closer and beyond. “The fact that [McCallum]  is committed to continuing on the show is wonderful for us, but it’s not going to keep us from trying things and surprising people. That’s true of any of the characters on the show,” he says. “We’re always interested in keeping things challenging and entertaining for them as actors, and we’re going to continue to push the envelope for them so they can continue to do some phenomenal work.”

I was left hugely disappointed by this week’s NCIS: LA. Got anything that might cheer me up? — Amy
Look at this and tell me if you’re seriously still bummed/not totally bursting with excitement about the finale. If you are, I owe you a Coke (and vice versa — what do you think I am, some sort of soda fairy?) Shall I give you my address now or later?

Sandra!! It’s almost summer and you know what that means… Teen Wolf!!! Scoop soon? — Kristie
Soon? What about NOW? I just finished checking out the first of TWO episodes that landed on my desk and my immediate reaction is “woohoo!” — and not just because of the steamy sexytime Allison and Scott share in the first five minutes. There’s also a the introduction of Allison’s creepy (and ruthless!) grandfather, a major development with Lydia (who goes a little whack-a-doodle — like, “let me go for a naked stroll” crazy), and Jackson will find himself a little worse for wear in a way that will completely gross you out.

I’m in love with Mike & Molly but I feel like I never see anything on it. Any season finale scoop? — Miriam
You mean other than it’s freaking a-dorable?! You probably do, so here’s what I got:
Molly’s day goes awful (we’re talking bird’s nest hair, a broken vehicle, and general life suckage), and Carl makes a bold move with Christina that goes just about as well as his ‘I love you.’

Can we please get some good news about Chuck & Blair for the finale? Everyone is ready for them to finally reunite. #GossipGirl — @wrightst3
Well, I’ll tell you one thing: the odds of them reuniting are certainly better than things smoothing out between Blair and Serena. At least by the look of the clip from the finale I’ll be posting soon. Hint. Hint. Actually… that’s not a hint at all. It’s pretty much clear what I’m saying.

Any final HIMYM scoop you can share? — Frank
Ahead of the season finale, I’ve pretty much given you what I can. But here’s one bit more: As you might have guessed from the title of Monday’s hour-long ep, there’s definitely some tricks in this episode. There. Done. Also, make sure you come back to InsideTV on Monday for more good teases, my on-set report, and on Monday night, Tanner Stransky’s chat with EP Craig Thomas!

Drop Dead Diva comes back soon. I LOVE that show and would love you even more if you had some Grayson scoop for me! — Nilde
Well, first a little background. The first episode back, airing June 3, picks up after Jane’s been in Italy for a bit, and as executive producer Josh Berman promised at the end of last season, this season has turned the tables. Grayson is now pining after Jane. And in the premiere, we get an idea of just how smitten he is, thanks to a scene at the airport that will just crush you. (It involves flowers and an arrival gate.) More on this show’s return soon, because I think you’re going to love it.

Hi Sandra. I hear that you were lucky enough to chat with the stunning Stana Katic. What did she have to say about the season finale? I know how much she was rooting for Castle/Beckett to finally get together. Any teases for what is to come in season 5 or what she hopes to come? — Cheryl
Since season 5 has yet to hit paper, no teases. But she certainly echoed executive producer Andrew Marlowe’s statements about the chemistry we will see between the two. “I don’t know what they’re going to do. I know that Andrew has always felt like the show has that kind of His Girl Friday feel,” she says. “And as in any relationship, there are all these charmingly complicated moments of adjustment and getting to know each other in a relationship that could be charming and compelling to watch.” Full chat goes up today. Promise. And want to thank me ahead of time? Please be sure to take a second to fill out my Spoiler Room survey. We’re coming up on the last day to do so!
