Just what America wanted: a model search on college campuses! CW announced a bunch of premiere dates for its summer shows today, including the new format for America’s Next Top Model that returns Aug. 24 — a college edition. For the first time in the history of the franchise, cycle 19 (!) of the show will give viewers a chance to decide which college gal passes the beauty test. Tyra Banks and the other judges will then use viewer feedback to help decide who stays and who goes.
CW also unveiled the following premiere dates: Oh Sit! starts on Aug. 15, the Queen Latifah-produced talent show The Next: Fame Is at Your Doorstep begins Aug. 16, season two of The L.A. Complex premieres July 17, and Remodeled comes back on July 9. Here are the official network descriptions for the two new reality shows:
Oh Sit! will be hosted by Jamie Kennedy (The Ghost Whisperer) and actress/television host Jessi Cruickshank (MTV Live) and will feature 12 thrill-seeking daredevils racing head to head through five physically demanding, obstacle-course-style eliminations as they each compete to claim a chair, to the sounds of a live band. At the end of the hour, only one contestant will be left sitting triumphant to seize the cash prize.
The Next: Fame Is at Your Doorstep offers a new take on the music competition genre and will include Grammy Award-nominated musician and actor Joe Jonas, Grammy Award-winning hip-hop superstar Nelly, pop legend Gloria Estefan, and country star John Rich, who will travel to where the talent is, immersing themselves in the lives and towns of these local performers and preparing them for the chance to represent their home city on stage, live, in front of America.
