Back in April, Nickelodeon announced its plans to bring back beloved ’90s game show (and Lori Beth Denberg vehicle) Figure It Out, and now the day of nostalgia is close at hand! A new crop of Nick stars will succumb to the slime as they take the stage for the guess-the-hidden-talent frolic–and EW has the first look at the new set (see above) and the first celeb to be slimed!

Although the show will retain much of its original gameplay format–four celebrity panelists try and guess a kid’s secret talent based on clues and yes-or-no questions–there are plenty of new additions to the re-imagined show. “The original had a certain look, and we were looking to update that look and bring it into 2012,” says executive producer Magda Liolis, who promises just as much comedy, slime and things flying through the air as in the 1997 version.

Among the new additions are a clue coaster (which brings helpful items to the panelists, much like the original’s clue train) and the “It Board,” which features seven flatscreen monitors to display the contestants’ hidden talents in lieu of a manual flipboard. (“Billy is no more,” says Liolis, referring to the original show centerpiece. “The board is now called the ‘It Board,’ because they’re trying to figure ‘It’ out.”) Perhaps the most exciting change concerns the sliming tactics planned for the panel of celebrities, which includes Nick stars like Max Schneider and Cymphonique Miller (How to Rock), Jennette McCurdy and Noah Munck (iCarly) and Gracie Dzienny, Ryan Potter, and Carlos Knight (Supah Ninjas).

“We still shoot clues at the panelists, we drop things on them, we slime them,” teases Liolis. “I want them not to know when they’re getting slimed, [but] I want them also not to know where they’re getting slimed from.” In addition to overhead oozing, there are slime spewers planted all over the set, which means that the classic sludge can come from above, beneath, beside or directly in front of the panelists.

So who gets the honor of being the first star to face the iconic green goo?

It’s Victoria Justice!!

The Victorious star has the honor of being Figure It Out‘s inaugural slime recipient–but plenty of others will get the chance to get covered when the show premieres on June 11 at 7 pm on Nickelodeon.
