His Past: He’s a man of mystery, but here’s some of what’s been uncovered: Jessica plucked him out of the firm’s mailroom, got him into Harvard, and has mentored him to senior partner. Harvey has a reputation to protect, which means he wants people to believe he doesn’t care about his clients, Mike, or anyone — but he does. He’ll never sleep with a married woman. He only wears Tom Ford suits. He’s got athletes on speed dial and a wall of jazz and blues albums in his office. His “likes” include movies (which he and Mike try to one-up each other quoting) and whimsical art (which shows his wicked sense of humor).
His Future: Let’s just say he’ll have to do some of his best work to save Mike’s job in the season 2 premiere. “I always thought Harvey is a great character because he stands up for people behind their backs, just not in front of them,” Macht says. “He works his ass off to keep this kid because he thinks he’s still his ace in the hole. But there are times when you might think Harvey’s gonna take him out and he’s done. He’ll never admit it, but he loves him.”
