It’s been five years since The Simpsons invaded movie theaters with the aptly titled The Simpsons Movie. Itching and scratching to see the Springfield clan return to the big screen? It’s happening shortly, in all senses of the word. Served as an animated appetizer to 20th Century Fox’s Ice Age: Continental Drift (opening July 13), The Longest Daycare is a four-and-a-half-minute 3-D short featuring a lot of Maggie Simpson and no dialogue.

The plot: Baby Maggie makes a return visit to the Ayn Rand School for Tots, which doesn’t start promisingly, as a machine scans her and determines that her future is “nothing special.”

For a preview of the action, watch the following trailer, which confirms the presence of a butterfly, lice detector, at least one other Simpsons family member, and Maggie’s arch rival, the unibrowed Baby Gerald. Granted, the tease is only about five seconds, but, hey, the movie’s not even five minutes.
