Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert extend their contracts with Comedy Central

Comedy Central’s late-night political-satire duo will stick around at least through the next midterm elections. According to a statement released by the cable network this morning, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have both extended their contracts with Comedy Central for the next couple of years. Colbert’s contract extension runs through the end of 2014; Stewart’s runs a bit further, up to the middle of 2015.

Both will continue to serve as multi-hyphenate host/writer/producers for their respective series, which have both experienced ratings growth this year, due in no small part to ongoing three ring circus that is the 2012 presidential election.
