One year after presenting Mary Tyler Moore with SAG’s lifetime achievement award, Moore’s one-time TV husband is getting a trophy of his own. The Screen Actors Guild announced today that Dick Van Dyke will be awarded the Guild’s highest honor during the 19th Annual SAG Awards ceremony on Jan. 27, 2013.

“Dick is the consummate entertainer — an enormously talented performer whose work has crossed nearly every major category of entertainment,” SAG-AFTRA co-president Ken Howard said in a statement. “From his career-changing Broadway turn in Bye Bye Birdie and his deadpan humor in the Emmy-winning Dick Van Dyke Show, to his unforgettable performance as Bert in Mary Poppins, he sets a high bar for actors.”

Van Dyke began his career on radio, hosting a show called Flight Time while serving in the Air Force. He took a traveling comedy act around the country and hosted a morning show for CBS before breaking out as a Broadway star in Bye Bye Birdie. His own sitcom, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and iconic screen musicals including Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang followed. Throughout his career, Van Dyke has received, among other awards, five Emmys and the Television Critics Association’s Career Achievement Award in 2000.
