If you are a fan of water challenges, then you have reason to be excited for Survivor: Philippines. That’s because the last eight seasons have been in locations (Gabon, Tocantins, Samoa, Nicaragua) that did not allow for underwater challenges. The best the show could do was have contestants paddle on top of or run through a few feet of liquid. But now you can expect full-fledged swimming, diving, and other assorted water-based activities.
In the video below, host Jeff Probst explains how the desire to stage just those sort of challenges was what led them to the Caramoan Islands. “It actually came as a slam down from Burnett, says Probst. “He said ‘Get us back in the water.’” To see Probst talk more about that and how he also does everything in his power to make sure contestants have to endure the worst weather possible, just click on the video below. (Pssst! You can also see in-game footage of Probst welcoming the contestants at the marooning.) And for more Survivor news and views all season long, follow me on Twitter @DaltonRoss.
