The halls of EW are currently buzzing over the pilot for Nashville, the new ABC series about country music and southern politics which plays a little bit like All About Eve set in Music City, USA, with some southern politics thrown in for good measure. We’ve obtained an exclusive shot of the croon-worthy cast of the drama — check it out below:
From left to right, there’s Heroes star Hayden Panettiere as country-pop star Juliette Barnes; Charles Esten (the regional manager of the Stamford branch on The Office!) as the emotionally bruised music man Deacon Claybourne; the great Connie Britton as aging country legend Rayna Jaymes; Sam Palladio and Clare Bowen as a pair of dreamers named Gunnar and Scarlett; Robert Wisdom (a.k.a. Bunny Colvin from The Wire and “that one soldier on the bridge in Dark Knight Rises“) as politico Coleman Carlisle; Jonathan Jackson as Nashville hipster Avery Barkley; Eric Close as Rayna’s husband Teddy; and Powers Boothe as Rayna’s father, the demonic Lamar Wyatt.
Yeesh, even the names are getting me excited! Click on the image for a bigger look at the cast of Nashville — the show debuts on October 10. According to our highly scientific Fall TV Risk Factor model, Nashville seems like a safe bet; will you be tuning in?
