Last year, the profile of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was certainly raised by its spiraling characters — Taylor Armstrong, whose husband Russell committed suicide just before the show’s second season began, and former child star Kim Richards, who checked herself into rehab (for the second time) midway through the season. With the news of star Adrienne Maloof’s contentious divorce, season 3 seems primed to reach another fever pitch. Not that you’d know from the chilling promo for season 3.
Underscored by Alex Clare’s appropriately ominous and undulating “Whispering,” the teaser shows the ladies gliding through “sunny” Beverly Hills, transforming it into a veritable tundra with their ice-queen attitudes. “Who will care for the fallen?” beseeches Clare. If the upcoming season is half as tantalizing as this spot implies, probably a lot of people. Though the ladies would be well advised to balance out that ice with a little fire now and again.
