Over the years, Survivor has reduced even the toughest people to tears. (Remember Russell Hantz getting weepy on Survivor: Redemption Island?) Now it seems it is former Facts of Life star Lisa Whelchel’s turn to feel the emotional pain of being cut off from all friends and family while being subjected to constant rain and a lack of food, sleep, and shelter. In the below video clip from tomorrow night’s episode of Survivor: Philippines, we see a distraught and teary Whelchel talking about being isolated from the rest of the tribe. “I don’t feel like I’m fitting in. I’m already on the outside.” She then goes to talk about how she has “been on my own since I was 12.” It’s also likely the first and last time you will ever hear the words “Mickey Mouse Club” on the show.
Does this mean Lisa is a goner? Well, Dawn Meehan suffered a similar culture shock at the start of Survivor: South Pacific, tearfully confiding in Ozzy and to cameras about her outsider status, but she rebounded nicely (until her tribe wad deceived by a colored rock-phobic John Cochran.) Will Lisa be able to turn things around as well? More answers may be coming on Wednesday night. Until then, see her breakdown below. And for more Survivor scoop, follow me on Twitter @DaltonRoss.
