In June at the Nantucket Film Festival, Ben Stiller brought together three of his funniest famous friends to talk seriously about comedy. Chris Rock and Jim Carrey joined Stiller on a panel moderated by Saturday Night Live‘s Bill Hader for the 4th Annual All-Star Comedy Roundtable. Stiller and Rock worked together on the Madagascar animated films, among other projects, Carrey starred in Stiller’s Cable Guy, and Hader, who popped up in Tropic Thunder, first met the Meet the Parents star when he was still a teenager in Oklahoma. “You’ve come a long way since Oklahoma,” Stiller said to Hader last fall, just as he and Hader were about to visit SNL‘s “Weekend Update” desk, dressed as Zoolander and Stefon.
But even the greatest comics fall flat on their faces now and again, as Carrey reveals in this exclusive clip. Way back when, before Ace Ventura, before In Living Color, he thought he had landed his first Tonight Show gig. It wasn’t to be. Watch below:
