We’ll take that full order of Ben and Kate with a side of Rob Corddry, please!

In the Oct. 23 episode of Fox’s freshman comedy, the Children’s Hospital star — and recent Emmy winner! — guest stars as Buddy, the owner of the bar where BJ (Lucy Punch) works. And if this exclusive shot from the episode tells us anything, it’s that there’s more than workplace matters being discussed here.

“He’s basically Lucy Punch’s male counterpart,” says Corddry. “They are so similar that it makes Lucy’s character act differently.”

So is it love at first sight? He wouldn’t say. But it’s definitely hilarious. “I will say that it’s some of the funniest scenes I’ve ever done in a role like that for TV and very well written,” he says.

And it works out well enough between the two characters to warrant a return. Corddry says he’ll return for a second episode sometime soon and possibly more if he can work it out with his Childrens Hospital writer’s room schedule. And if they keep him alive, he jokes. “My character is the name of the bar they hang out in. So unless they murder me…”
