Not one but two all-stars were sent packing from Dancing with the Stars on Monday. To read their parting words — and to find out who took it hard, and who took it in stride — head to the jump:

While Monday night’s lowest scoring celebrity Bristol Palin was giving giddy interviews about performing a rock n’ roll number next Monday, Drew Lachey and Helio Castroneves were saying their goodbyes to the press after Tuesday’s elimination episode. Lachey, in particular, was irked after performing a cha cha that he thinks should have kept him and Anna Trebunskaya in the competition. for another week or more.

“I feel disappointed. I take everything personally,” Lachey told reporters. “There are fantastic dancers on this show, everybody knows it and everybody sees it every week. Do I think we are going home too early? Absolutely. I don’t think there is anyone in this ballroom who would disagree with that and I don’t think I’m speaking out of turn by saying that. I think Helio is going home too early as well.”

“Oh my gosh we were so robbed,” added Trebunskaya. ” I have an amazing partner who came up with this amazing set, who opened the show, who made the show so successful [in the past]. I feel robbed of having fun with him.”

Lachey admits that he started to see the tide turn on Monday when he watched the other scores tick up. “When we first got our scores we were like 24, that’s great!” He said. “Then we saw how the scores kept getting higher and higher and we were like, really? We are second to the bottom? I take pride in what I do. I take pride in being a performer, and to me it’s kind of ironic that the two Broadway performers … me and Joey Fatone … are gone already. It’s a little odd to me. But that’s the unpredictability of this show.”

“Basically, it’s the crappy part,” Trebunskaya said.

“Yes,” he continued. “It sucked.”

Castroneves, in contrast, didn’t take his elimination quite so hard. (His quick step with Chelsie Hightower earned a 25 on Monday).”It’s a show. If you don’t have the scores, you gotta have the votes,” he said. “That’s what it is all about. As a competitor, yes you are disappointed because you gave your best. But you understand that sometimes when you win and when you lose, you have to deal with it.”

There is some other loss he’s had to deal with on DWTS – namely, his dramatic weight loss. The auto racing driver says he’s down to a mere 143 pounds — a weight he hasn’t been at in seven years. “I’m taking protein to build some muscle,” admitted Castroneves, who plans to take his Zoot Suit with him once he leaves the ballroom for good. “I’ve been losing a lot.”
