In the last new episode of Scandal, U.S. Attorney David Rosen (Josh Malina) was sent on a possibly permanent vacation stint after losing one of the biggest cases of the year. Now, he’s more focused than ever on unraveling the web of lies, secrets and scandal (ba-dum!) weaved by Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) — the woman responsible for his sudden disgrace.
But Malina says he’s always known that David was truth-seeker, and says he’s “not surprised that he’s become super-focused on trying to figure out what Olivia has done.” “He’s sort of a lone ranger here,” Malina says. Luckily help is on the way. Soon, Alissa (Brenda Song) will re-enter the picture and give him a much-needed hand — or, as he puts it, she will “become his Tonto.”
Tonight marks the return of Scandal after one week of preemption due to the vice presidential debates. It will be well worth it, however. “There’s sort of a big moment at the end of this next episode that I can’t say much about but there’s a surprise that I think people will like,” he says. “It’s going to give a little bit of a sense of what his near future might involve.”
While Scandal is hitting new levels of intensity this season, it’s a different story behind the scenes, where Malina and his co-stars continue filming behind the scenes footage for EW. (Read more about Malina’s assignment here.) The proof of the light and humor-filled atmosphere on set is seen here in the latest edition of Josh Malina Cam, where the actor gives us a tour of co-star Katie Lowes’ trailer.
