Hurricane Sandy: NBA game postponed due to transit issues

Sorry, Knicks and Nets fans.

The pair’s face-off, which was set to open be the first regular-season NBA game at the new Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, has been cancelled, Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced, citing ongoing transit issues in New York City following Hurricane Sandy.

Thursday’s matchup would have been the season opener for both teams and was set to air on TNT.

The Nets’ first game will now be Saturday against the Toronto Raptors.
