Syfy orders 3 shows: Ghosts, ghosts, ghosts!

Darn Ghost Hunters. The ongoing and stunning success of that series and its spinoffs continues to inspire networks to order more and more supernatural investigative reality shows. Now Syfy has just announced three new ghost shows.

First is Ghost Mine (Jan. 16): Yup, ghosts in a mine. An abandoned Oregon gold mine, to be exact. This combines Ghost Hunters with Discovery’s Gold Rush Alaska, assembling a “colorful team of miners to battle the elements in hopes of finding their fortune and teaming them with a pair of experienced paranormal investigators.” In each episode, “miners will face the day-to-day challenges of mining, aided by the paranormal investigators who unravel the mysteries surrounding the mine.” Let’s call the show Ghost Hole instead.

Next is Stranded (Feb. 27), which uses “self-recorded footage of a diverse group of every-day paranormal enthusiasts — from newlyweds and a brother-in-law to a trio of roommates. Each team of three will be stranded at one of the most haunted locations in America and record the entire experience with hand-held cameras.” What if the teams have a great time and aren’t scared? Why do we suspect that will never happen?

And finally, from the producers of Ghost Hunters, there’s Notorious Hauntings (Spring, 2013), about a “group of researchers who investigate reports of extreme and dangerous supernatural activity across the globe.”

When it comes to Syfy reality shows, we’re more excited about their giant boxing robots. (And if that becomes a hit, it won’t be long before there’s … Ghost Robots!).

Speaking of, this Brazilian prank-show video is making the rounds at EW today. I don’t really buy it (looks like those light-flicking effects are done in post-production), but it’s still a great idea and pretty funny:
