Best Physical Fights
5. Jax vs. Galen, Sons of Anarchy
The members of SAMCRO tend to solve their disagreements with hit jobs, but a bare knuckle boxing match between Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and IRA member Galen O’Shay (Timothy V. Murphy) stood out in an already remarkable season. This “Irish discussion” was a testosterone-fueled, partly shirtless good time that doubled as a successful business meeting. Corporate America, take note!
4. Arrow vs. Deadshot, Arrow
In this, the Year of the Archer, we’d be remiss not to include one of the action-movie-ready altercations from The CW’s biggest fall hit. Protecting his family from gun-wielding villain Deadshot, Arrow (Stephen Amell) brandished his bow to put the “Dead” in Deadshot and prove once and for all, as our own Nuzhat Naoreen put it, that “arrow trumps bullet.”
3. Quarles vs. Raylan and Limehouse, Justified
Points for ingenuity: During a threeway bust-up between Raylan (Timothy Olyphant), Limehouse (Mykelti Williamson), and Quarles (Neal McDonough), FX’s backwoods noir somehow managed to make the grisly sight of Quarles’ severed arm darkly funny. In a chat with Mandi Bierly, EP Graham Yost compared the moment to Ben-Hur. Indeed, it was epic.
2. Mellie vs. Diamond, My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding
Without a doubt, the least sexy chick fight ever televised (sorry, Basketball Wives and Bad Girls Club!). When Romani girls Diamond and Mellie found themselves on opposite sides of a family argument, the earrings came off and the tube dresses fell down. Despite Diamond’s distinct size advantage, she underestimated scrappy stripper Mellie, which turned out to be a bloody mistake. It must be seen to be believed.
1. Emily vs. The White-Haired Man, Revenge
Though she waged a psychological war against her Hamptons foes all season long, Emily Thorne’s (Emily VanCamp) greatest moment arrived during last May’s finale when she served up a martial arts thumping to the nameless assassin behind her father’s murder. Who suspected this high society blonde could kick so much ass? Certainly not the White Haired-Man.
