The USA Network is getting back into genre TV.
The network announced today a cast-contingent pilot order for WWII-set sci-fi drama Horizon, a show that comes from executive producer Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead).
Horizon is about an FBI secretary who finds out that her husband may have been killed in a battle with a spaceship while in the South Pacific. She becomes obsessed with finding out the truth and eventually, according to a logline, “becomes the only person standing between Earth and an alien invasion.” Hurd will executive produce the hour-long series with writer and co-executive producer Bridget Tyler (Burn Notice).
“Horizon is our first genre piece since The 4400 and the first ever period drama for the network,” network co-presidents Jeff Wachtel and Chris McCumber said in a statement. “This signals the next step in the evolution of our programming brand.”
