Anthony Michael Hall is going back to high school.
The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles actor is joining MTV’s Awkward. He’s coming on board the show’s third season for a multi-episode arc. Hall will play Mr. Hart, “a sadistic creative writing teacher that pushes the students out of their comfort zones.” We’re told there’s a method to Mr. Hart’s madness that will have a major impact this season.
Hall is considered a great fit for the show given Awkward has been frequently compared to John Hughes’ 1980s comedies.
And that’s not all. Nolan Funk (Glee) has also just been added to show’s cast in a multi-episode arc. He’ll play a confident new prep school transfer to Palos Hills.
Awkward doesn’t have a return date yet, but given the success of the show, MTV is doing 20 episodes this season instead of the usual 12.
