An Office fan favorite is getting her own show.
Ellie Kemper has signed for the lead role in the NBC comedy pilot Brenda Forever. The flashback-filled pitch: “Stories from Brenda Miller’s past and present are interwoven to give a unique portrait of how a chubby, awkward, but incredibly confident 13-year-old grew up to be a 31-year-old woman who still marches to the beat of her own drum.”
The actress-comedian seemed destined to land a starring gig following The Office, which concludes this season. In the past couple years Kemper has landed supporting roles in the hit big-screen comedies Bridesmaids and 21 Jump Street. Brenda Forever is written by David Lampson and Andrew Leeds, who will also executive-produce with Rescue Me‘s Peter Tolan and Michael Wimer.
