CBS reporter caught in crossfire with alleged cop killer

CARTER-EVANS

A reporter for the CBS affiliate in Los Angeles found himself in a dangerous position today while authorities engaged in a shootout with alleged cop killer Christopher Dorner.

Reporter Carter Evans was reporting live via phone in the Big Bear area of Southern California when sounds of massive gunfire could be heard in the background. At one point, police can be heard yelling, “get the f— out” to the reporter, who said on the broadcast that he wasn’t sure where to go.

Evans — whose previous employer was CNN —  had been reporting in the area off Highway 38. A massive hunt for Dorner was underway, amid reports that he stole a car after burglarizing a home. Dorner is the former LAPD officer who is suspected of killing an Irvine, CA. couple and a cop in Riverside.

“We pulled up right at the same time as authorities,” Evans reported live from the scene. “We are alright.”

Shortly after 2 p.m. PT, Evans reported that he was positioned near a cabin where Dorner is allegedly holed up. Authorities have surrounded the area.
