CBS has found its Bad Teacher. Actress Ari Graynor has landed the title role in the network’s sitcom pilot based on the 2011 Cameron Diaz film.
Graynor previously had arcs on Fox’s Fringe (“Rachel”) and HBO’s The Sopranos (“Caitlin Rucker”). Here she’ll play Meredith Davis, described as a “hot, confident, unapologetic trophy wife. The kind of woman other women hate. But when her husband leaves her without a dime, the fantasy is over and she’s forced to get a job. Meredith, a smart and savvy survivor, doesn’t miss a beat. When she hears there are a lot of rich single dads at a local middle school, she sets her sights on a teaching career. Meredith Davis knows what she wants and more importantly, how to get it.”
The project is from writer Community writer Hilary Winston. For more, here’s our fall comedy pilots master list.
