ABC’s The Bachelor ratings continue to surge while other midseason reality shows (cough-American Idol-cough) are in slump.
For the second week in a row, Bachelor scored a new season high. Monday’s hometown dates episode delivered 9.2 million viewers and reached a 3.0 for the first time this season. That demo rating is up 11 percent from last week (which, in turn, was up 13 percent from the week before). This is the best non-finale rating for The Bachelor in nearly two years. Another show with good news this morning: Fox’s serial killer thriller The Following. After last week’s alarming 17 percent dip, The Following jumped up … 17 percent. So there. The show also bounced back even though its lead-in, Bones, was down a peg — a positive sign. (Perhaps EW touting the opening sequence helped?).
But then there was this: The CW’s Carrie Diaries and 90210 both hit series lows in the demo. The latter performed particularly poorly, with 90210 only delivering 500,000 viewers and a 0.2 in the demo (renewal odds fading…).
As for the rest, all CBS and NBC shows were within a few percentage points of last week.
