NBC greenlights 'Food Fighters' cooking competition

NBC is adding a new cooking competition to its primetime lineup. The network has greenlit Food Fighters, where the best amateur cooks in America put their signature dishes to the test against six pro chefs. Author Adam Richman hosts.

Food Fighters combines compelling competition and game show fun with a delicious twist — giving every day home cooks a once-in-a-lifetime chance to compete with world class chefs,” said NBC alternative president Paul Telegdy. “Every true home cook has at least one ‘signature dish,’ — the peach cobbler, the lasagna, that appetizer that friends beg you to bring to parties. This is a show that puts those recipes to the ultimate test and rewards the passion Americans bring to their home kitchens every day.”

In each episode, a skilled home cook will face off against professional chefs from around the world. Using a recipe for their best signature dish, they’ll face an expert chef who will have to cook the same dish. The completed dishes will then be sampled in a blind taste test by a judges known as “The Dinner Party.”  If the home cook wins, they earn a cash prize and get to face off again against another culinary expert, climbing a money ladder for each pro they beat. There’s no premiere date yet.
