History Channel’s The Bible once again managed to smite the big broadcast networks in the ratings.
With the miniseries project moving on to the New Testament during Sunday night’s program, a total of 10.9 million viewers watched the two-hour telecast, which also had a 2.8 rating among adults 18-49. That’s pretty much steady with the previous week’s airing. By comparison, broadcast TV’s top-rated shows were ABC’s Once Upon a Time (7.2 million, 2.2 rating) and CBS’ The Amazing Race (8.8 million, 2.2).
The episode caused an online kerfuffle after some viewers noticed that the actor playing Lucifer resembled President Obama. The network and producers issued statements saying that any similarity was purely unintentional.
The series continues next week and then concludes on Easter Sunday with a portrayal of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection.
