Why is it that The Good Wife writers give such lovable actors such despicable roles? The proof is in the guest stars. See: Michael J. Fox as the infuriating Louis Canning, Matthew Perry as the pathological liar Mike Kresteva, and Dylan Baker as the notorious wife killer Colin Sweeney. Baker—who’s already nabbed two Emmy noms for his portrayal of Sweeney—reprises his role in Sunday’s all-new episode, “The Wheels of Justice.” In the ep, Alicia (Juliana Margulies) and Will (Josh Charles) go to trial to keep Sweeney from receiving a life sentence. Baker called in to tease his upcoming appearance and weigh in on his character’s bad side.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What can you say about Sunday’s new episode?
DYLAN BAKER: Mr. Sweeney is back up to his old tricks. It’s an interesting episode because there’s a feature of the law that Cary sort of figures out along the way. It sort of changes my case and slips it in to a whole [different] thing right there in the courtroom. For a while, it looks like I’m paying these lawyers a lot to just sit around and push things down the road. All of the sudden it gets very exciting because of the information that Cary uncovers. It’s a fun episode.

Are there plans for Mr. Sweeney to appear again this season?
There is a possibility that the final show Sweeney might make another power play for something. If any intrigue is going on over there at Lockhart/Gardner, he wants to be in the middle of it.

Your character definitely has a dark side. What’s it like to play a wife killer?
Now that’s alleged. That’s alleged! [Laughs] Remember that. And that one girl that was handcuffed to my leg? Well, yeah, I had to kill her.

The last time you were on the show your character went up against Morena Baccarin’s Isobel Swift. She’s back again this week. What was it like working together?
We have such an interesting ongoing relationship. Obviously Sweeney’s the kind of guy who appreciates a real materialistic, ambitious young woman. And [Morena's] character has no problem saying anything in the courtroom, as well as Sweeney. So they’re actually sort of a match made in heaven.

Which relationship do you like better: Alicia and Will? Or Alicia and Peter?
Put Sweeney down for what he would like to see. And by see, he wants to actually be sitting in the chair and watching all three of them. Together.

Is there anyone in the cast you haven’t yet worked with but want to?
I went to grad school for three years with Chris Noth. We’re really good pals, and I have never worked for two minutes with him! [Laughs] But I must say that always getting back to The Good Wife is a good thing because it’s such a good group of people. That starts from the top down, and that’s Juliana [Margulies]. She is incredibly welcoming. This year my wife, Becky Ann Baker, was actually on an episode, and she said the same thing—that everybody there said, “Thanks so much for coming on and helping us out.” They’re just a great group of people, and I’ve really enjoyed getting to know all of them.

You’re working on another buzz-worthy project right now, Anchorman: The Legend Continues. What can you say about that?
They’re very closed mouthed on that. But I’m actually down here in Atlanta now. I’ve been working on it for a couple of weeks, and I’ll be working on it for another few weeks. I can tell you that all of the old guys are back, and a lot of new guys are back. Also, I take great pride in the fact that I haven’t destroyed a single take yet by laughing…. But I’ve got a lot of filming ahead of me. I better knock on wood.

What other upcoming projects are you working on?
I actually directed a movie called 23 Blast. I’m working on getting it distribution right now. It’s a little indie film that I made with Stephen Lang and Timothy Busfield and Alexa Vega. It’s a true-life story about a boy from Corbin, Kentucky, who played football and then lost his sight, and then played football again. He actually played football blind on his varsity football team.
