Edie Falco will be returning to her Emmy-award winning role as emergency room nurse Jackie Peyton on Showtime’s critically-acclaimed dark comedy series Nurse Jackie.

The unconventional but brilliant titular nurse will be back for a sixth season in 2014. Season 6 begins shooting this fall.

The premium cable show typically ranks well, with about 3 million viewers per episode, and has shown a ten-percent growth from seasons 4 to 5. Showrunner Clyde Phillips, who took over following season 4 and previously worked on Dexter, is also the show’s executive producer and will be back for season 6. In addition to Falco, Nurse Jackie┬ástars Merritt Wever, Paul Schulze, Dominic Fumusa, Anna Deavere Smith, and Peter Facinelli.

The fifth season finale airs June 16.
