Nominations for this year’s Emmy Awards were announced this morning and those nominated couldn’t be happier.

Claire Danes, Homeland (outstanding lead actress in a drama)
“It is truly a great day on the Homeland set with so many of my fellow castmates being nominated. I was going to do some serious screaming into pillows if Mandy [Patinkin] hadn’t gotten a nod. I’m also very glad that [writer] Henry Bromell, who we lost too soon, has been recognized for his extraordinary work on our show.”

Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock (outstanding lead actor in a comedy)
“It’s days like this that make me miss 30 Rock.  Many thanks to everyone that nominated me.”

Hugh Bonnevillle, Downton Abbey (outstanding lead actor in a drama)
“I am honored, overwhelmed and dead chuffed.”

Mark Burnett & Roma Downey, The Bible (outstanding miniseries; outstanding sound editing for a miniseries, movie, or a special; outstanding sound mixing for a miniseries or a movie)
“We are honored that our peers have nominated The Bible for an Emmy. We are thrilled we get to share this nomination with our tremendous cast and crew from all around the world who worked so hard with us to bring the epic story of the bible to the screen.”

Ty Burrell, Modern Family (outstanding supporting actor in a comedy)
“I am honored and humbly surprised that this good fortune continues. I’ve never had something so wonderful happen four years in a row before, other than winning the NY state lottery from 1993 to 97. I share this with the entire cast and crew of Modern Family. I’m sure it’s not surprising to anyone who’s ever worked on a television show, but our writers are the reason we’re still in this position. I’m eternally grateful for their talent and surprising good looks.”

Jim Carter, Downton Abbey (outstanding lead actor in a drama)
“I’m certainly more excited than perhaps Mr. Carson would be. Last year was a thrill, this year even more so. Thank you Emmy voters.”

Don Cheadle, House of Lies (outstanding lead actor in a comedy)
“Given all the hilarious film work I’ve done, from Traffic to Crash to Flight, it’s nice to finally be recognized as the comic genius I am. Thank you, Academy members.”

Laura Dern, Enlightened (outstanding lead actress in a comedy)
“I’m so thrilled and grateful to the Academy for this lovely news. The role of Amy Jellicoeis is a shared creation, and therefore I share this nomination with the extraordinary Mike White for his creation and vision. I also share this with the greatest cast ever, who made Amy all that she is, as well as all of the directors and our crew who have helped shape her. I am excited and thankful for any support our show is offered, so that people can continue to find it.”

Michelle Dockery, Downton Abbey (outstanding lead actress in a drama)
“It’s a wonderful and unexpected surprise, I’m so grateful to be nominated again.”

Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie (outstanding lead actress in a comedy)
“It’s a huge honor — genuinely exciting to be among these women in my category. These are actresses I’ve watched and loved for years.”

Jimmy Fallon, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon (outstanding variety series)
“Honored to be nominated for an Emmy this morning. Takes the sting away from being snubbed by the ESPYs last night.”

Julian Fellowes, creator, writer and executive producer of Downton Abbey (outstanding drama and outstanding writing for a drama)
“It is a wonderful stroke of good fortune for the show to be recognised by the Television Academy for the third year in succession, the stuff of fairy tales as far as we’re concerned, and we couldn’t be more grateful. The approval of one’s peers is the sweetest applause of all and the generosity towards us Britishers by the Television Academy is really extraordinary. I am particularly delighted that we should have been given nominations right across the board, for so many different departments, because like any good show, we are the product of teamwork from an exceptional team.  Thank you.”

Alex Gangsa, showrunner of Homeland (nominated for 11 categories)
“It’s an honor to be included among shows we watch and admire – the field is more crowded than ever. We are ridiculously lucky to be writing for our incredible cast and crew. It’s great to see our actors and crew be recognized for their singular contributions. Thanks to Showtime and Fox 21 for making it all possible.”

(Regarding Henry Bromell’s posthumous nomination for writing)
“We could not be more thrilled that Henry’s work is being recognized. Henry was our lodestar — a brilliant writer and a generous soul. We miss him every day. It’s a tremendous tribute to his memory and we’re so honored.”

Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Kimmel Live (outstanding variety series)
“It just goes to show you — good things happen to bad people.”

Jane Krakowski, 30 Rock (outstanding supporting actress in a comedy)
“This is such an incredible way to celebrate 30 Rock‘s final season.  I can’t wait to go to the Emmys with my cast mates and dance like no one’s watching!”

Melissa Leo, Louie (outstanding guest actress in a comedy)
“I am over the moon with the nomination this morning! So thrilled and honored to see my name next to such consummate funny ladies! The joy and pleasure of working with Louis CK would have been more than enough — many thanks to the Television Academy!”

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep (outstanding lead actress in a comedy — made Emmy history by surpassing Lucille Ball’s record of 13 Emmy nominations)
“It’s taken me decades, but I have finally avenged Lucille Ball. I am euphoric.”

Amy Poehler, Parks and Recreation (outstanding lead actress in a comedy)
“I appreciate the nominations. I love my job. But nice try, guys. I’m not falling for this old trick again.”

Homer Simpson, The Simpsons (outstanding animated program)
“Woo hoo! Nominated for 19 straight years! We’re the Daily Show of television! (BEAT) What, you expect something better at 5:30 in the morning?”

Maggie Smith, Downton Abbey (outstanding supporting actress in a drama)
“I am so delighted that the Emmy voters are as fond of Violet as I am. Thank you so much for nominating us both.”

Merritt Weaver, Nurse Jackie (outstanding supporting actress in a comedy)
“I’m really honored to be nominated and very happy to see Edie and Bobby recognized. I’m so grateful for Nurse Jackie.”

Betty White, Betty White’s Off Their Rockers (outstanding reality show host)
“Sorry that the show could not have lasted longer but I am so happy and appreciative of this Emmy nomination.”

Beau Willimon, House of Cards (outstanding drama series)
“All of us at House of Cards are honored by the nominations. Almost four years into this journey, and well underway on production for season 2, it’s such a thrill to have the collective efforts of our talented cast, crew, designers, directors and writers recognized by the Television Academy. This dedicated team has made House of Cards by far the most rewarding artistic experience of my career.  I’m particularly happy for Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright — they are the center of our show’s universe and make every episode shine. And of course I’m delighted for David Fincher — his brilliance and vision inspire us all. “

Allison Holker, Dancing with the Stars (best choreography)
“It is absolutely & completely surreal. I love that I’m nominated with someone I look up to & admire so much, Derek Hough. He’s a huge inspiration. And to be alongside such amazing choreographers (who I’ve also danced for!) is such an overwhelming, humbling & beautiful moment.”
