The project: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The Panel: Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson), Ming Na (Agent Melinda May), Brett Dalton (Agent Grant Ward), Iain De Caestecker (Agent Leo Fitz), Elizabeth Henstridge (Agent Jemma Simmons), Chloe Bennet (Skye), Jeffrey Bell (executive producer), and Joss and Jed Whedon (seriously?)
Footage screened: They showed the pilot.
Snap judgement: To say this panel was highly anticipated would be a massive understatement. A buzzy energy could be felt among the audience prior to the panel (Do you think they’ll show the clip? What if they show the pilot?), and the panel itself lived up to expectations in every way. The best part? The panel began with audience questions rather than any type of footage. That led to one of the most memorable moments of the event (besides the actual airing of the pilot!) …
Best totally planned audience question: “I was wondering if we can see a clip,” asked a girl, the third fan to ask a question. Joss Whedon groaned and said with regret in his voice, “We wanted to show a clip, but legal…” The audience followed with their own sigh of disappointment. Then… “We’re going to show the pilot,” Whedon said. Then there were cheers. Lots and lots of cheers.
The Big Revelations: Not many, but Jed Whedon did strike down the hopes of anyone hoping to see Deadpool, saying the character would “probably not” show up this season.
Most honest revelation: “We’re spending way too much money to make the following episodes,” joked Bello. Ming Na added: “We’ll be passing around a donation cup.”
Best quote: “I have that feeling that I haven’t had in a long time. … I guess I’m a little excited,” said Whedon. Honorable mention: “I really didn’t like being dead.” — Gregg.
