Never fear, Sharknado/decade-old American Pie fans: Tara Reid hasn’t been thrown overboard just yet.

There was a TMZ report over the weekend that claimed Reid would not be asked back for the buzzy Sharknado sequel, but Asylum executive David Latt, which produced the Twitter-friendly television movie alongside Syfy, tells EW that couldn’t be further from the truth, and he has no idea where the report came from.

Stressing that Reid was great on set, he emphasized that everything was on the table right now with respect to casting for the yet-untitled New York-set sequel, and Reid certainly hasn’t been fired. “We talked the storyline through, and there are no restrictions,” he explained about the early meetings for part two. “So it could be the family that goes over, it could be a prequel before Ian [Ziering]‘s family was involved in it. It could be 10 years in the future. … There are so many possibilities. So if the story lends itself to the original actors being in part two, hopefully they’re available and hopefully they won’t charge us too much [Laughs] and hopefully they’ll be in it.”

For Reid’s part, a rep for the actress didn’t reply to EW’s request for comment, but she tweeted yesterday, “There is no script for sharknado 2 until i read it then i will make a decision but everyone that is saying i got cut that is not true #liars.”

Missed the original craze? The TV movie will have a one-night-only screening in theaters Aug. 2.
