Watching a TV program on an actual television? That’s so passé — especially for any fan of modern-day renaissance man James Franco.
Thankfully, Comedy Central is coming to the rescue by livestreaming Franco’s upcoming roast on multiple platforms — including its website, mobile site, and Xbox 360 app CC:Stand-Up. The network announced today that it also plans to play a special “social version” of the roast as an encore, complete with “real-time tweets and Facebook posts on-screen.”
Not quite Franconian enough for you? Consider this: Before the roast airs, Francophiles will also be treated to a 15-minute “#FrancoRoast Red Carpet Pre-Show,” hosted by comedian Jonah Ray and Mitzie Verne — also known as the Oscar-nominated actor’s real-life grandmother. (And yes, the hashtag is part of the name.) The pre-show will stream on cc.com as well as mobile platforms and the Xbox app.
The Comedy Central Roast of James Franco premieres at 10 p.m. ET on Monday, Sept. 2. The socially-inflected encore airs at 11:30 p.m. ET.
