Tina Fey: What's good and bad about Cecily Strong's 'Weekend Update' takeover

Backstage at the Emmy Awards, Tina Fey was asked if Cecily Strong was a good choice to take over the Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” desk from Seth Meyers.

“She’s a good choice,” Fey said. “The one thing that will be sad is she’s really great at Weekend Update features, so we’ll miss that. You have to be very comfortable being yourself on camera [to anchor] and she’ll be great at that.”

Fey won an Emmy for best comedy writing for the final season of 30 Rock along with Tracey Wigfield.

“It’s so lovely that anyone remembered us,” Fey said. “It was a labor of love. Thankfully our friends at NBC never tried to change the weird tone of the show.”

Asked if there will ever be a 30 Rock reunion, Fey joked, “It will be an Imax movie and it will be one minute long and play at the American Museum of Natural History.”
