'The Walking Dead': Andrew Lincoln says 'the group dynamic has changed radically'

The West Georgia Correctional Facility will look very different when season 4 of The Walking Dead premieres on Oct. 13. That’s not just because there is a garden growing and livestock in the fields — there are also people. A lot more people. And according to star Andrew Lincoln, while there is safety in numbers, more people and can also mean more problems. “There’s around about 50 new characters, and that puts obviously an enormous pressure on the group with the practical necessities,” Lincoln told us in the video clip below while taking a break from his recent Entertainment Weekly cover shoot.

Instead of the close-knit (if occasionally dysfunctional) group of seasons’ past, Rick and Co. will now have to adjust to a larger population around them. “We were a band of maybe 10 characters at the end of last season,” says Lincoln. “So there’s the character relationships, and the group dynamic has changed — radically.” What else does the addition of the Woodbury group — as well as various “waifs and strays” — mean for the survivors?
