NBC eyes 'Remington Steele' reboot

NBC is looking to its past again for another potential hit for its future. The network is developing a sequel to Remington Steele, the ’80s drama that starred Stephanie Zimbalist as a private eye who teams with a mystery man played by Pierce Brosnan.

This version, however, will be developed as a half-hour comedy. Deadline reports that Jay Scherick and David Ronn (Zookeeper, Spin City) are writing the script that will the follow Olivia Holt, the daughter of Remington Steele and Laura Holt, as she reopens her parents’ detective agency. The project is still in the early stages; NBC first has to order a pilot before it has a chance of making the fall 2014 schedule.

The original Remington Steele aired from 1982 to 1987.

Last month, NBC debuted an update of Ironside that stars Blair Underwood as a wheelchair-bound detective. At a mere 1.4 rating among adults 18-49, Ironside ranked as NBC’s lowest-rated fall drama debut ever in the demo.
