Could one of the relationships on The Tomorrow People be here today but gone tomorrow? It’s very possible, especially as matters in the group’s fight to survive get increasingly complicated, according to star Luke Mitchell, who plays the head of the Tomorrow People, John.
“You’re going to see that become a little bit tumultuous,” Mitchell says of John’s relationship with Cara (Peyton List). “You feel like [the Tomorrow People are] a united front in the pilot, but starting in episode 2, you start to see they are individual people with individual opinions, specifically John and Cara, which is most interesting because they’re in a relationship.”
And Stephen’s (Robbie Amell) presence — or, rather, Cara’s soft spot for the newbie — only complicates matters further, he says. And in tonight’s second episode, airing at 9 p.m. ET, the couple will continue to butt heads over some Stephen-related matters, stemming from Stephen’s decision to act as a double agent.
Looking ahead, Mitchell says the cast is currently hard at work on episode 9 of the freshman season, which will be an hour dedicated to learning more about enigmatic John. “Things get a little out of control, which is a lot of fun,” he says, adding with a laugh, “I don’t know if I’ve ever worked so hard in my life.”
