[SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE LATEST AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN!!!!!]

Is Miss Robichaux’s Academy down one student witch?
Tonight’s American Horror Story: Coven may have been the most shocking episode to date with teen star (and witch) Madison Montgomery (Emma Roberts) seemingly offed by Fiona (Jessica Lange) after the latter thought Madison was the next Supreme and sucking the life from her. In the final moments of the hour, called “The Replacements,” Fiona slit Madison’s throat and watched her bleed to death. But is Madison really gone for good? Well… maybe… maybe not. “You have to wait and see,” teases star Roberts.

But fans have already witnessed fellow Coven characters Misty (Lily Rabe) and Kyle (Evan Peters) resurrected from the dead. Says the actress, who starred in this summer’s hit We’re the Millers, “That’s the big joke on the show when we get the scripts — nobody dies on American Horror Story.”

Roberts actually hinted to EW on set in New Orleans this summer that something major was coming up for Madison. “I can say there’s a huge shock early in the season for my character,” Roberts said in August. “I knew ahead of time, but I was still surprised at the scene.” The actress admits that Madison’s murder was actually part of co-creator Ryan Murphy’s initial pitch for the young actress to join the show.

When it came time to film the gruesome scene, Roberts says they shot various takes of Madison’s death — some bloodier, some more serious — but that dying on camera was nothing compared to having such a killer scene with two-time Academy Award-winner Lange. Says the actress, “I love her so much so I was more intimidated to have a big scene with her.” Roberts even believes Coven is a career high-point. She admits, “It’s everything I wanted and more.”

While Roberts is coy about Madison’s fate on Coven, co-creator Ryan Murphy was slightly more revealing. “Well, I mean, yes, she is dead,” says Murphy. “The funny thing about a horror show to me is that anybody can die at any time. I love that.” But he adds, “All I wanna say is wait ’til you see what happens to the body. Sh-t goes down. When you see episode 4 and you see what Spalding [Denis O’Hare’s mute butler] did to the body, you’ll be like ‘Oh, okay I get it. Not only do I get it, but I’m very disturbed.'”
