'Today' hosts Matt Lauer and Al Roker to receive prostate exams live on air

Matt Lauer and Al Roker have done their fair share of hands-on reporting as longtime anchors of Today — and on Thursday they’ll add getting prostate exams live on the air to that list.

By having the two male hosts undergo a prostate exam, the morning show, which is also supporting the men’s health initiative No Shave November this month,  is hoping to recreate the success it saw when former co-host Katie Couric went through a colonoscopy procedure on-air back in 2000.  Nearly 6.7 million viewers tuned in to watch Couric’s live colonoscopy in March 2000.

Following the procedure administered by a doctor on set, Roker and Lauer will discuss the importance of prostate screening for men over 40.
