'Simpsons': See the touching stealth Marcia Wallace tribute

The Simpsons gave a touching, albeit super-quick, tribute to late co-star Marcia Wallace in Sunday’s episode. An opening credits sequence showing Springfield-as-winter-wonderland featured a brief flash of Wallace’s beloved character, Bart’s teacher Edna Krabappel, with angel wings. She’s joined in the shot by a likeness of Simpsons writer Don Payne, who also died recently. “[W]e wanted to do a tribute to two terrific people, Marcia and Don,” Simpsons executive producer Al Jean told E! News. “The episode was sadly, Don’s last.”

The Simpsons previously honored Wallace, who died at the age of 70 in October, in an episode last month that opened with Bart writing on the chalkboard, “We’ll really miss you, Mrs. K.” Below is Sunday’s full sequence:
