Duck Dynasty‘s Robertson family is launching a line of camouflage-colored guns.
The family’s 40-year-old Duck Commander company has partnered with gunmaker Mossberg to release nine different shotgun models, as well as two semiautomatic rifles and a semiautomatic pistol, according to CNN (images below).
Patriarch Phil Robertson and his sons appear in ads for the new guns on Mossberg’s web site (which currently seems to be overloaded). The website says all the firearms will come with an American flag bandana. Phil reportedly narrates one of the spots saying, “Do you know what makes me happy ladies and gentlemen? To blow a mallard drake’s head smooth off.”
The company hasn’t announced which stores will be carry the weapons, only that shipments to distributors have already start and that prices will start at $500. Though the Duck Commander brand is centered around duck hunting, the semi-auto rifles and pistols are not typically used in the sport (though the company notes that the pistol can be used for “small game, plinking, target shooting — or clearing cottonmouths out of your duck blind”).
A&E’s top-rated Duck Dynasty came under fire recently for Phil Robertson criticizing gays, making racially insensitive remarks and touting the benefits of wooing underage girls. After initially suspending him and receiving a barrage of criticism from fans and Robertson supporters, A&E announced Phil Robertson is welcome back on the show, which returns Jan.. 15.
