Supernatural fans: How does 10 seasons sound? How about 11? And the spin-off too?

It sure sounds like Supernatural will continue to have a bright future on The CW. The CW president Mark Pedowitz told reporters that the nine-seasons-and-counting drama series will continue to have a bright future on the network. “As long as I’m here and those numbers still hold, god bless them, they can go as long as they want,” said the executive.

As for the Supernatural spin-off in the works, Pedowitz says he just got the script, which he described as “set in Chicago, hunters, monsters, the typical.” He noted the Supernatural stars are in the spin-off pilot, which will be embedded into the regular run of Supernatural this season (episode 20). “In the spin-off episode, they will be in it,” he says. “Whether they’re in the series — for me, for spin-offs to work, they have to stand their own two legs. You could only organically do those cross-overs when the time is right, like we did with The Originals.”

Speaking of spin-offs, Pedowitz also seemed to hint that there might be more Vampire Diaries and Originals cross-over this season, and when asked about the possibility suggested viewers watch TVD‘s upcoming 100th episode (Jan. 23). He also said he’s “bullish” on the odds of The Originals getting a second season, as well as fellow freshman drama Reign. Yet executive used less certain wait-and-see language when discussing Beauty and the Beast and Hart of Dixie. The CW tends to give relatively early renewals to its stronger dramas in the spring, but Pedowitz suggested Beauty and Hart verdicts might not happen until May.
