NBC and the CIA have recruited Katherine Heigl. The Peacock has ordered State of Affairs, a drama pilot starring the former Grey’s Anatomy actress as a CIA attache who advises the President on “high-stakes incidents around the world” while trying to manage her complicated personal life. Joe Carnahan (The A-Team) will serve as writer, director and executive producer of the project.The CIA seems to have captured NBC’s interest. Last week, the network ordered Coercion, a CIA spy thriller that is being adapted from an Israeli format, a la Homeland.
NBC also announced today that it had ordered an untitled comedy pilot from Parks and Recreation‘s Amy Poehler. The show stars Natasha Lyonne (Orange is the New Black) as a woman who works an aide to a group of senior citizens while she tries to “find herself.” Happy Endings scribes Jon Fener and Josh Bycel are serving as executive producers with Poehler, who is exec-producing the new Comedy Central series Broad City.
It was previously announced that Poehler’s Parks co-star Rashida Jones is exec-producing a pilot for NBC, A to Z, a romantic comedy involving an online dating company.
