ABC's 'Selfie' gets pilot order -- judge this new comedy pitch

ABC just picked up two comedy pilots with wildly different summaries. One these potential shows has a hooky title and a description that seems engaging and colorful, the others sounds more like a college elective class. See what you think of these two ideas for new comedies next season, both from talented writers of popular shows:

Selfie from writer Emily Kapnek (Suburgatory). Logline: “Comedy inspired by My Fair Lady tells the story of a self-obsessed 20-something woman who is more concerned with ‘likes’ than being liked. After suffering a very public and humiliating breakup, she becomes the subject of a viral video and suddenly has more social media ‘followers’ than she ever imagined — but for all the wrong reasons. She enlists the help of a marketing expert at her company to help repair her tarnished image.”

Damaged Goods by Lauren Iungerich (Awkward): Logline: “Comedy about the sexual politics that have changed between men and women in this post-feminist era.”

Of course, Selfie could be completely unwatchable and Damaged Goods could be utterly brilliant. You can’t accurately judge from a logline alone, but it’s interesting to see how different shows handle such a key piece of information used during pilot season. What do you think?
