David Schwimmer headed back to TV as the star of an ABC comedy pilot.
The former Friends actor is set to play the lead in Irreversible, a hot project that’s based upon a hit Israel series (Bilti Hafich) about an “eccentric, self-absorbed couple, and their trials and tribulations — most of which they bring upon themselves.”
Schwimmer will serve as a producer on the Sony TV-produced show, which is written by the original series’ co-creator Segahl Avin.
If Irreversible is ordered to series, Schwimmer will join most of his Friends co-stars back in prime-time. Courteney Cox (Cougar Town), Lisa Kudrow (The Comeback, Web Therapy), Matt LeBlanc (Episodes) and Matthew Perry (Go On, Mr. Sunshine) have all jumped back into series television in recent years (though Jennifer Aniston has continued to focus on the big screen). Schwimmer has booked guest roles on shows, such as a multi-episode arc on Kudrow’s Web Therapy two years ago, but has otherwise stuck to film since Friends wrapped its run in 2004.
