It’s Hannibal vs. Crawford in this intense opening scene from the season 2 premiere of NBC’s Hannibal. The set-up: FBI boss Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) enters the kitchen of Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), who is prepping dinner. In the first few seconds before this clips starts, Lecter starts to give Crawford a friendly smile … notices the murderous look in his eyes … then THIS happens.
Season 1 concluded with the closeted cannibal successfully framing FBI profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) for his crimes, sending the agent to prison. This scene is a flash-forward and the bulk of the season is set weeks before this — so clearly at some point this year Graham’s boss Crawford figures out what Hannibal did, and is not too happy about it.
The actors recently noted to reporters they had fight training on previous projects — like Fishburne for The Matrix movies and Mikkelsen for Valhalla Rising. Here they tapped that big-screen experience for a rare opportunity to really let loose in a TV crime drama with a brutal cinematic action scene. Hannibal returns in its new time slot this Friday at 10 p.m. Here’s 7 more reasons why you should watch.
